French Immersion - Movie Review

French Immersion is set in the small town of St-Isidore-du-Coeur-de-Jésus, Quebec, where five Anglos arrive to take a two week French immersion course. The school is the only thing keeping the town alive and has to survive a visit from the Ministry. The students all have different backgrounds, from being a policitician to a cook, all with different reasons on why the are studying French. The whole village is watching them, and gives them yellow cards with "En Français" written on them if they get caught speaking English.

The movie is in both French and English and is a fun light hearted comedy. With so many characters, it's a little hard to keep track of everyone. There were some side stories I thought were unnecessary. I thought French Immersion was pretty funny though (and really quirky), and it was kind of cool to hear the French and actually understand what they are saying (Don't worry though, there are subtitles!). The ending gets a little crazy and confusing and really random, but I guess it somehow works for this movie.

French Immersion comes out in theatres October 7th.
